Endeavour Yacht model with beautiful blue and red body
The original Endeavour was a 130-foot (40 m) J-class yacht built for the 1934 America's Cup by Camper and Nicholson in Gosport, Portsmouth Harbour, England. She was built for Thomas Sopwith who used his aviation design expertise to ensure the yacht was the most advanced of its day with a steel hull and mast.
Endeavour yacht was first launched in 1934 and won many races in her first season including against the J's Velsheda and Shamrock V
Sopwith challenged the America's Cup with his J-class yacht, Endeavour, in 1934, and with Endeavour II in 1937. Both yachts were designed by Charles E. Nicholson. Sopwith funded, organised and helmed the yachts. He did not win the Cup but he became a Cup legend by nearly winning it in 1934. He was inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame in 1995.
